Guidelines For Users, Affiliates & Sponsor

GoKidTrips.com is a free family lifestyle forum for parents to share information about special events, family life, home-style, parenting resources, family-friendly products, and travel experiences.  We are thrilled to welcome new users and sponsors every day, but with growth comes new challenges.  With increasing guest blogs and requests for partnering opportunities we hope to clarify the distinctions between content we post and user-posted content; and between free-information sharing and our sponsored messages.

Blogs: We welcome regular and guest bloggers to post on our site.  A regular blogger is a blogger who has undergone an approval process and has been given their own log-in credentials for posting directly to the site. Blogs written by our regular bloggers may include personal experiences, product reviews, giveaways, interviews, news, sponsor introductions, and special event highlights.  If you would like one of our bloggers to review a product, service, or performance please e-mail info@GoKidTrips.com.  If we are provided free press passes, review copies of books or sample products, our bloggers reserve the right to share their true experience with users and will disclose the relationship and/or benefit received in the blog.  Please keep in mind that the opinions expressed by our bloggers are their own and are not necessarily shared by us.  Although we do not seek to edit our regular bloggers, we reserve the right to edit or remove any inappropriate content posted on our site.  

A guest blogger is someone who submits an article for our consideration and whose article is previewed, possibly edited, and posted by us.  Occasionally, a guest blogger will be a professional with a business interest in the subject matter s/he is writing about.  We value the contribution of experts in the field, but because transparency is so important to us we will always disclose that professional’s relationship to the business s/he may be writing about.  It is our policy not to accept payment for posting a guest blog or embedding a link in a blog.  Further, any endorsement made by us must comply with the disclosure requirements under FTC Endorsement Guidelines 16 CFR Part 255.

Facebook:  Individuals and businesses are welcome to share information and post special events on Kid Trips Facebook page.  However, we ask that only our affiliates and sponsors post sales, giveaways, or solicitations for paid memberships or enrollments.

Affiliates: We strive to maintain good relationships with community groups and family-friendly businesses.  The goal of our affiliate program is to promote mutual sharing of information and benefits to our readers in exchange for promotion on our site.  As examples: a theatre company may become an affiliate by providing our readers with free ticket offers; a music school may become an affiliate by passing out DC Metro Mom flyers at their open house or providing a class discount to our readers; and a website may become our affiliate by posting our link on their site or sharing information about us on their own social media sites.

Sponsor Advertising:  Our Media Kit contains current advertising rates and artwork specifications.  To request a Media Kit please e-mail info@GoKidTrips.com. 

Promotions and Contests:  Affiliates and Sponsors may provide free tickets, vouchers or gifts to our readers.  Kid Trips does not accept payment for hosting a promotion or contest. 

The promotion or contest announcement will be posted on our BLOG. The announcement link will also be shared on our social media sites.  Readers do not have to pay or offer other consideration for access to or eligibility for these special promotions or giveaways.  We will not require a person to LIKE a Facebook page to enter a contest.  

Winners are notified via e-mail and the business will be cc'd in that correspondence. Once we make the e-mail notification, the business is responsible for delivering the prize; however, if there are any problems please let us know and we will do our best to help facilitate the delivery.

Names and addresses of entrants are collected only for purposes of awarding the prize to the winner.  We will not otherwise use, disclose publicly, or provide to anyone the entrants’ full names or contact information.  If the business wants to include the winner’s name or address on any future mailing or distribution list, it should seek permission from the winner directly.
