But a prince can’t marry any old dairymaid—the Prince’s wife must be a genuine, certified princess. The Queen has concocted a test to prove each candidate’s royal authenticity, which quickly rid the kingdom of the first twelve girls who failed. Then, one stormy night, a princess arrives at the castle gate who is unlike any other. The Prince is immediately smitten, but his mother is harder to convince. Until this girl can prove her royal status, Dauntless and her fairytale ending is doomed. Will this unusual princess pass the Queen’s test and win the hand of her very own prince? All opinions are our own. by Jay WilliamsonAfter an intense period of hard work, the government has fixed Washington … the Monument that is. (The city itself remains the same dysfunctional place that President Kennedy famously described as having southern efficiency and northern charm.) The Monument, damaged in a 2011 earthquake, underwent a 3 year, $15 million repair project to fix approximately 150 cracks in its edifice. It reopened to the public on May 12, 2014. Visitors can obtain free same day tickets at the Washington Monument Lodge on 15th street on a first come, first serve, basis or pay a mere $1.50/ticket handling fee to purchase reserved tickets online and have them delivered to your door via mail. The reserved ticket option is highly recommended, as it lets you plan your day around your entry time, avoid lines, and the potential disappointment of not getting tickets. You can make reserved purchases here. What you’ll see: After getting past security, visitors travel by elevator up 500 feet to unparalleled views of the city. Four sets of windows offer views in each direction (N,S,E &W) with helpful pictures to explain some of the less renown buildings and structures. However, the highlight has to be seeing the “famous” sites from on high - the Capitol, the Jefferson, White House, and the Lincoln Memorial are all visible in unobstructed views. Some views from the top: Additional highlights include the exposed stonework and a few museum exhibits. Young and old builders alike will be amazed by how the stones fit together to form the structure. Visitors can view the notch work and workmanship that went into creating this magnificent structure. During the elevator ride down, Rangers treat you to a view of the many commemorative stones from each state donated to help build the structure. More Information:

Pinkalicious can't stop eating pink cupcakes despite warnings from her parents. Her pink indulgence lands her at the doctor's office with Pinkititis, an affliction that turns her pink from head to toe - a dream come true for this pink loving enthusiast. But when her hue goes too far, only Pinkalicious can figure out a way to get out of this predicament. We sent a local mom and her four year old daughter to review the show, and here is what they had to say: The musical is a must see for any Pinkalicious book fan out there. The songs were wonderfully entertaining. The set and lighting were so magical that my daughter let out an audible gasp when we walked in. When the show started and Pinkalicious came out, my daughter turned to me and said "this is amazing!" The musical stayed very true to the book (with a few minor additions) which kept my Pinkalicious fan very happy and engaged. The overall running time of the show is about an hour long. If you haven't been to Adventure Theatre before, please know that it is on the smaller side and seats are first come, first serve. We highly recommend attending this gorgeous, family-friendly show this summer! Other things to know: * They had princess wands and tiaras for sale $3 each. Pinkalicious books were also available for $7 each, as well as some really cool light up fairy wings. * Kids have the opportunity to play dress up ( with pink clothes!) before the show. * Pink cupcakes, pink cookies and pink lemonade are for sale ($3 each) before and after the show. (We got the pink lemonade and cupcake and had a little treat after the show which made our day just a little bit more special!) * While at Glen Echo park, be sure to ride on the historical carousel!
