Cherry Blossom Festival Washington DC March 20 – April 14, 2013 Just as weary locals are more than ready to say goodbye to the winter along comes the Cherry Blossoms Festival. As many of you know, this Metro DC area event ushers in a spring right of passage. This year’s celebration will be held from March 20 – April 14, 2013. For those that haven't seen it you must, must go at least once. It is truly breathtaking to see 3,000 trees come to life at the Jefferson Memorial & Tidal Basin. Try to go on a weekday and enjoy the site without the rest of humanity that comes to the area for this momentous event. This year’s parade will be held on April 13, 2013. Read below: Sitting at the Southern end of the National Mall, the Thomas Jefferson Memorial and Tidal Basin are a must-see if you are in the Washington D.C. area. Best known for the annual Cherry Blossom Festival, this venue is a wonderful destination year-round. See the grandeur of the Thomas Jefferson statue, soak in the beautiful view of the Tidal Basin, rent a paddleboat and become part of the action or simply linger on the steps of the Jefferson Memorial. Bring a picnic lunch or buy from one of the local vendors. Walking tours of the National Mall can make for long days with little ones.
