By AmyTo beat the winter blahs, we decided to pack up the kids after work one Friday night and drive into New York City for the weekend. It was a good plan, except that there was a snowstorm, so the highway driving was a bit harrowing. Fortunately, not many travelers were foolish enough to be on the road, so we didn't encounter much traffic. (Yes, we probably should have stayed home, but the hotel was prepaid!) Braving the wintery weather and arriving close to midnight, we were relieved to find that New York really is the city that never sleeps.
Cherry Blossom Festival Washington DC March 20 – April 14, 2013 Just as weary locals are more than ready to say goodbye to the winter along comes the Cherry Blossoms Festival. For those that haven't seen it you must, must go at least once. It is truly breathtaking to see 3,000 trees come to life at the Jefferson Memorial & Tidal Basin. Try to go on a weekday and enjoy the site without the rest of humanity that comes to the area for this momentous event. This year’s parade will be held on April 13, 2013.
