Since launching our book Kid Trips Northern Virginia: Your Family's Guide to Local Fun, one of the questions we get asked the most by readers and reporters is, "Which version of Kid Trips is better, paperback or ebook?"
We decided to take matters into our own hands as two of our authors, Claudine and Micaela, weigh in on their favorite choices.
It’s Not Fair to Me (Round River Records $12) is the long-awaited collaboration between Bill Harley and Keith Munslow, two veterans of the children’s music scene. Harley and Munslow bring years of performing and friendship to a wacky collection of songs that range from the spooky “Stinkeye” to the blues send-up “Give Me Back My Hat.”
Additionally, Bill Harley and Keith Munslow will be performing @ Jammin' Java in Vienna on 2/23. Find out more about their show at:

This was the view from our kitchen window this morning...brrrr! Last night the blizzard of 2013 hit us with about 30" of snow, but thankfully we kept our power. First job of the day was clearing a path to the yard for our delicate dog. He's 85 pounds of wimp. Not that I can blame him; I sent the kids out to do the shoveling. Meanwhile, I'm wrapped in cashmere drinking warm cocoa...a most excellent form of suburban hibernating.
My child and I received a free sample of Little Passports in the mail to review and were thrilled with the colorful maps, cute story, and authentic looking passports. With Little Passports, subscribers can follow new penpals Sam and Sofia on their exciting adventures around the USA or the world. Inspire a love and understanding of the world as your child learns about a geography, history, culture, and language in a fun and memorable way. The program has won multiple awards and has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, Parents Magazine, Disney Family Fun, and more.
What is it about a charming little room for a child that makes most people let out with a collective "Aww"? I think planning a nursery is one of the greatest joys for an expectant mother. Every nook and cranny of the room is given special attention. The crib, bedding, rocking chair, pastel paint and even lighting are endlessly fawned over by most new mothers.
For many, dreaming of decorating a nursery falls a close second only to envisioning one's wedding dress. So when it comes time to take that step, where do you start? My personal preference is to focus on a color scheme first. Whether it is pink, yellow or even the new trend of more neutral earth tones, select your color palette before embarking on your journey. For pleasing color schemes, clip ideas from catalogs and magazines and save them as inspiration for your shopping trips.
