 Blackwater NWR 14th Annual Eagle Festival Saturday, March 15, 2014 9:00am - 4:00pm One of the largest largest breeding populations of bald eagles in the United States is close to home: Blackwater Refuge on Maryland's Eastern Shore. Bring the family and spend the day at the Refuge learning about bald eagles, spotting them in the wild, and having a great day packed with fun! This unique event is a must for nature lovers! The family-friendly schedule of events includes talks with experts, tours, live programs, exhibits, entertainment, and a ton of kids' activities such as crafts, science and nature explorations, a puppet show, and more. Blackwater Refuge is located 12 miles south of Cambridge and is filled with 27,000 acres of woodland, rich tidal marsh, freshwater ponds and managed cropland—great for birdwatching, cycling, hiking, and paddling. The refuge features a full service Visitor Center with a bookstore, restrooms, butterfly garden, and observatory, and a 4-mile Wildlife Drive with walking trails and a photo blind. LEGOLAND California has more than 60 rides and is filled with shows and attractions. Here are some things to know before you go:

This iconic national event includes egg coloring, art activities, face painting, music, magicians, and of course, an egg hunt. Tickets are required to attend. The National Park Service holds an online lottery about a month prior to the event. But don’t fret if you missed the lottery for the White House Easter Egg Roll, the area has many, wonderful egg hunts, train rides and bunny events for little ones. Here are some of the major ones in Northern Virginia and a few to consider in DC and Maryland too. Sign up online or by phone is required for most events. Due to the type-A nature of so many parents in this region, we suggest that you sign up ASAP. The early bunny catches the egg!

Aqua Easter Egg Hunt, Town of Herndon: April 12, 2014 Children ages 6-12 will collect as many floating and sinking Easter eggs in the pool as allowed. Eggnormous Egg Hunt in Reston: April 12, 2014 Carnival games, entertainment, moonbounces, food, and fun join this Easter Egg hunt tradition. Town of Vienna Old Fashioned Egg Roll and Easter Fun: April 12, 2014 Participate in an egg roll, see the Easter Bunny, and listen to tales from a storyteller Bull Run Easter Egg Hunt: April 15, 2014 Hunt for eggs and meet the Easter Bunny at Bull Run Park. Here are the details: Birthday Party Giveaway Parties are held year-round at the Rust Nature Sanctuary in Leesburg and are 1.5 hours long. One hour is led by an experienced naturalist and includes a program based on the theme, a nature hike and a craft or game. The remaining 30 minutes is the responsibility of the host family and is reserved for traditional birthday fun in the Discovery Room. Parties may include up to 14 children.
