      I am so tired of living in the suburbs. I sometimes feel if I eat at another chain restaurant or visit a strip mall, I will scream.  That is why the Mosaic District in Merrifield is a breath of fresh air! Without battling DC traffic, I am able to shop in an ultra hip urban environment and feel like a "real" person again. (Plus, I am not brought to tears about having to parallel park my minivan.)  No matter what your age or preferences, the Mosaic District truly has something for everyone.

Discover Unique Gifts

I am never giving anyone a generic Starbucks card again! The Mosaic District has unique gifts that will please many. The flavored oil & vinegar selection at Ah Love Oil & Vinegar is now going to be my go-to gift.  I also found funky home accessories at Timothy Paul Home to cheer up anyone's living space, and the intricate chocolates at Artisan Confections are delightful for the eyes and taste buds. Need a baby gift or toy? Dawn Price Baby offers a huge selection of designer kids' clothes, books, baby products, accessories, gear, and much more for the under six crowd.  I even spotted my FAVORITE BOOK on their shelves! 

Discover Yummy Food

Foodies take note!  There is no shortage of places to dine at the Mosaic District! I'm a sucker for anything Mediterranean, and personally enjoy the Greek flavors at Cava Mezze, wood-fired pizzas at Matchbox Restaurant, and sweet gelato from Dolcezza. Also, Le Pain Quotiden is the perfect place to grab breakfast, a bakery treat, or a gourmet coffee or tea. Plus, it's never a true girls' night without a margarita, which is why I'm excited that Cyclone Anaya's Mexican Kitchen is coming soon! More wonderful eateries at Mosaic can be viewed here, and I'm not shy to admit that I plan to try them all! 

Discover Family Fun

The Mosaic District is a great place for families!  Every Saturday morning, a giant screen plays classic cartoons like the Flintstones and Jetsons during Cartoons & Coffee.  During warmer days, my kids love splashing in the play fountain.  Also every Tuesday at 10 AM, animated storytellers come alive during the children's series Stories from Strawberry Lane.  Pair these outings with great retail and dining for added family fun!

Discover Your Glamorous Side

Look and feel your best by shopping at the fine retailers at the Mosaic District! I found the customer service at the smaller stores impeccable, and I discovered awesome products I normally wouldn't pick up. Bellacara offers a wide selection of cosmetics, hair care, and skin products. I found a great foundation and lip gloss that beats drug store quality! I also tried on some dresses at Langford Market for my sister's upcoming baby shower and was in love with all the accessories at Alex and Ani. There are plenty of other wonderful, independent stores for men and women at Mosaic listed here. 

Discover a Healthy Lifestyle 

Get healthy at the Mosaic District with events like Yoga in the Park, a weekly Stroller Strides class, the New Balance Run Club, and biking events, repairs, and retail offered through Fresh Bikes. Forget the supermarket too! Buy quality, organic, and local food by shopping at MOMS Organic Market, fine meats at Red Apron Butcher , and fresh seafood at MediterraFish. I bought some groceries for my family and found the prices pleasantly competitive. 

Discover the Best Date Nights

As if there wasn't enough great places to shop and eat, the Mosaic District is the area's premier date night destination. Enjoy independent films and top hits at the swank Angelika Film Center. During the spring and summer months, check out Friday night Films in the Park or start your Saturday night with memorable concerts on the big screen duringEpic Mosaic.
