by MicaelaWe are no strangers to Disney on Ice and as always were entertained with Feld Entertainment's latest Disney on Ice Show, Let's Celebrate at the Patriot Center in Fairfax, VA. The show: The performance opened up with Mickey, Minnie and friends hosting a fun Unbirthday Party with Alice and the characters from Wonderland. Goofy and Donald offered slapstick humor that had the kids laughing out loud. Next there was a spooky number featuring Jack Skellington and the cast of The Nightmare Before Christmas. My kids love Halloween, and we make it fun. We have been lucky enough to visit the Disney Theme Parks and tell the kids that the Haunted Mansion is silly, never scary. That being said, there were quite a few screamers in the audience during the Halloween number. It was a little darker than the other shows we've experienced and lots of villains joined the performance. Finally, Mickey came out in his wizard outfit and some ghosts in costumes (really Minnie, Donald, & Daisy.) If your child is afraid of Halloween images, just have the discussion before the show about how "silly" this part is. I find that when kids are prepared, they do much better and can enjoy experiences. Other show highlights included Minnie Mouse celebrating Valentine's Day with Disney Princesses and their Princes. The act featured favorites such as Cinderella, Tiana, Ariel, Mulan, and Jasmine. Also, Mickey and Minnie took a trip around the world to celebrate festivals in Hawaii, Japan, Brazil, China, and New Orleans. Finally, the closing act was winter holiday themed and included one my family's favorites, the Toy Story characters. The show ended with lots of lights, grandeur, and the whole cast joined in the grand finale. We had a fantastic time and highly recommend this show to local families. Patriot Center, Fairfax, VA
