by Micaela I was thrilled to check out the new PB and Jack indoor play area located in the Turnpike Shopping Center in Fairfax. My official and comprehensive article about PB and Jack will be coming out as a January family feature for Northern Virginia Magazine, but I want to share some details about this cool new gem! A huge highlight of my visit was meeting talented, local photographer, Marian Lozano, who offered to loan me her beautiful pictures for this blog post. PB and Jack was a dream of owner and mom of three, Dominique Deleage, when she struggled to find a great indoor place for parents and children to interact. If she met up with friends at a place like Starbucks, the children were never happy, and when she met up with friends at an indoor bouncy place, they could rarely have an “adult” conversation. Her dream became a reality as PB and Jack opened its doors last week! PB and Jack features a soft, ocean themed play area with climb on structures, tunnels, and some toys. There is also a gated off Lego area for older children and some contained structures (like bouncy seats) for infants. Parents can play in the play area with their children, or they can watch their kids from the cafe area, which features free wireless, healthy snacks for all, juice boxes, Horizon milk/chocolate milk boxes, and the best gourmet coffee drinks. (I had a latte that was under $3 and loved it!) The play area is always staffed with experienced staff that interact and have fun with the children. There is also always someone in the building who is trained in CPR and First Aid. In addition to the great play area, there are a few studio spaces where adult and kids’ classes are offered in areas such as music, fitness, Lego engineering and more. Adults can take a class at the same time as their children, or the children can stay in the play area. Look for more special events as well as parenting seminars in the future too!
