For a family that has seen a lot of live performances, Cirque Du Soleil's OVO was our first Cirque Du Soleil experience. I found the show to be visually aesthetic, high energy, and my children, ages 8 and 10, were entertained the entire time. The performance was approximately 2 hours with a 20 minute intermission.
Some highlights of the show included:
I would definitely recommend OVO as a family-friendly show. The theme of insects is something that all children can relate to, and it was fun "guessing" with my children when the performers came onto the stage. (The quickly corrected me when I called the crickets "grasshoppers.") Besides the physical acts, there is an ongoing story line about a bug trying to find love with a ladybug. Even with the bugs playing hard to get and some suggestive acting, it is pretty innocent and funny. Although we saw much younger children who were extremely well behaved, I would suggest that OVO is best for ages 6 and older. If you are in the greater DC or VA area, check out OVO at the Eagle Bank Arena through August 20, 2017. Located on the campus of George Mason University, we love how easy it is to get in and out of this venue. Plus, parking is free, and the concessions are pretty decent too (Ex: Chick-Fil-A, Paisanos Pizza and wine for the adults.) It's great to be able to see a world class show without the stress of traveling into the city. We received complimentary tickets to review the show. No other compensation was received, and all opinions are our own.
