Our kids' smiles grew three sizes bigger at the performance of Dr. Suess' How the Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical at the National Theatre last night. The show is based on the iconic story by Dr. Seuss and is a must-see for DC area families this season. The character of the Grinch had a terrific combination of dry wit and expressive silliness. Also, Cindy Lou was spectacular and captured the audience's attention singing to the Grinch, who exclaimed, "Oh no, not a ballad." Besides the laughs, the show made you want to sing along, and thankfully it allowed for it halfway through when the audience was invited to do so. Another memorable character was the Grandfather who had the thought provoking line, "If it's the thought that counts, why are we doing so much shopping?" Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical is a colorful production to put you in the mood for the season. The plot follows the classic book and television special closely and has favorite songs such as "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch," and some original tunes too. Our children loved every bit of the performance, especially the theater snow and streamers. We recommend this show for ages 4 and up. The Grinch that Stole Christmas! The Musical
