Unless otherwise noted, pictures are property of Kid Trips, LLC. by Micaela Williamson Have you ever heard the cliche “I need a vacation from my vacation?" I’m pretty sure parents invented it. As much fun as it is to explore new places, parenting on the road is tough and tiring. When my family visits hotels, I either end up sharing a bed with a kid who kicks me the whole night, or I’m forced to stare at the ceiling or read in the bathroom waiting for my kids to fall asleep. That’s why I was so excited when Staybridge Suites invited me to be part of their campaign. Staybridge Suites is part of the popular IGH Family of Brands. Each tastefully decorated suite comes with a fully equipped kitchen, well-lit workspace, modern bathroom and free high-speed Internet access. Staybridge Suites also boasts a daily complimentary hot breakfast buffet. We stayed at the Staybridge Suites in Newport News-Yorktown, Virginia. The hotel is very convenient to many popular tourist attractions including Busch Gardens, Water Country USA, Historic Yorktown, Newport News and Colonial Williamsburg. The region is pretty much a mecca for family vacations! After spending the day at the waterpark, coming back to the Staybridge Suites was relaxing and felt like coming home. Even though we had booked a one-bedroom suite, I am an IGH rewards member so I was lucky to be upgraded to a two-bedroom suite at no additional charge. This allowed the children and adults to have their own sleeping space, and everyone slept well in their own beds. In fact, my children were so comfortable that they slept later than expected. We have stayed in many condos/timeshares on vacation in the past, and I always love the convenience of having a kitchen. This gives families the flexibility to cook what they want, store food, and save on travel costs. Since complimentary breakfast is included and we can prepare either a delicious lunch or dinner in the suite, this allowed us to save to have a few nicer, more upscale meals during a family vacation rather than wasting money on fast food or junk. We adored the elegant design and additional amenities at the Staybridge Suites Newport News-Yorktown property. The hotel had a beautiful indoor pool and hot tub that is perfect for families, laundry facilities on-site, a fitness center, and lots of beautiful outdoor space for grilling or eating out on the patio. My husband loved the living room concept that the Staybridge Suites Newport News-Yorktown had in their lobby that allows early risers or night owls like us to hang out, watch TV, read, or grab a coffee without disturbing the rest of the family. This is ideal for families that get a studio or one-bedroom suite. Staybridge Suites also has a happy hour type social in the lobby on Tuesday-Thursday nights with complimentary drinks and appetizers. We loved our experience at Staybridge Suites and would definitely recommend families looking for alternatives to booking condos, extended vacation stays, or for larger families that do not fit in “traditional” hotel spaces to check them out.
The suites are designed so visitors can enjoy themselves and have different schedules without disrupting one another. For more information about Staybridge Suites properties, please visit StaybridgeSuites.com or call 800-238-8000. They have over 200 locations in the U.S. and Canada.
