The End Of An Era ~ Toy Corner In Oakton, VA Is Going Out Of Business

I was so sad when a friend sent me the Facebook post from Toy Corner announcing that the store was closing.  I have lived in Oakton, VA for 8 years and Toy Corner was one of my first stops in my new neighborhood.  It was always such a cute toy store with a wonderful local vibe.  Carol, the owner, always had a recommendation for the perfect toy and it was beyond easy to pick up a gift and have it wrapped before heading to a birthday party.

Fast forward to 2013.  My co-authors and myself made a point of reaching out to local toy shops to see if there was an interest in carrying our book.  Carol didn't hestiate and immediately ordered a box of our books and put them right next to the register.  Love her!  She has always been so kind and truly loves her customers and community.

Unfortunately, the internet has taken its toll on that sweet, little shop.  Unable to compete in our "Amazon is everything" market, Toy Corner is now closing.  

I would encourage all of you to stop by Carol's store.  If you are regulars tell her how much the store has meant to you. Also, there are deep discounts on the remaining inventory, but hurry the items and the store will be going soon.
