by Claudine Kurp I recently moved to Houston, Texas. The weather has been wonderful and I am currently enjoying a lovely 75 degrees. I have never lived in a tropical climate so the promise of warm temperatures for months to come coupled with my new pool, has me dreaming of a beautiful outdoor space. Truth be told, I have always been somewhat obsessed with outdoor living. In Northern Virginia, I considered the first warm March day the kickoff to the season and celebrated accordingly. Moving just gave me a great excuse to bulk up my outdoor offering of furniture and accessories. Since moving, I feel like I am on the never-ending quest to find new items for my house. It is finally time to focus on the outside space. I have looked at a number of online sites (who doesn’t love tax free shopping) and discovered http://www.fifthroom.com for some awesome outdoor and even indoor wares for home and garden. As I looked through endless of products, I found that I was a little torn. My Northern sensibilities have me pivoting toward beautiful white rocking chairs coupled with a small table. My gold standard for my Virginia patio has always been four white rocking chairs, a fire pit in the center and some side tables with a bright red geranium. The thought of it makes me want to roast a marshmallow and chill out with my family. Of course in Texas backyard living is a way of life and folks go BIG with furniture as many months of the year are spent pool side. Since my backyard comes with a pool but doesn’t have a covered porch I have been looking for fun ideas for evening dinners and gatherings that provide cover from late sun or possible rain. I love this standalone pavilion for my backyard. It is such a great transitional piece. It can easily be used on a cement surface or grass. It would be a perfect home for a patio or dining set. The dining sets came in array of colors. Not to be a cliché, but I feel in love with the cup holder accessory that fits on the Adirondack chairs. They also have an adorable Kid’s Furniture section. Lemonade anyone? My husband’s wishlist included a hammock and a killer firepit. I was amazed at the selection on http://www.fifthroom.com. They are stocked with a rich selection of products that blend with any backyard setting. For inspiration and frankly to narrow the field of possible purchases I headed to their Houzz site. It is full of inspiration for backyard design. In the end, I think I am going to fall back to my true love of Adirondack chairs and a dining table. I am trying to force myself to be bolder with color choice. So with 20 colors available, I feel a little boring picking white. Stay tuned. Temperatures are starting to thaw everywhere. Even if snow surrounds you, take a trip http://www.fifthroom.com for an online spring break and get ready! Summer 2015 is right around the corner!
