One of our favorite children's museums in the U.S. is Port Discovery Children's Museum in Baltimore. With so many hands-on exhibits and sensory opportunities, kids are sure to have a blast. Here's what's coming to museum this spring:
  • Native Voices, New England Tribal Families: Coming March 3-May 13, 2018: This exhibit will highlight the past and present of five native tribes in New England. It will feature artifacts, hands-on activities, and a "compelling immersive environment." (Port Discovery website.)
  • STEM into Spring Break Week: March 24-April 2: Every day this week features special STEM themed programs such as performances, exhibits, and projects.
  • Little's Day: April 14, 2018: A special day designed for kids 6 and under. Activities include live children's performances, yoga, theatre, crafts, circus science and more!
  • Additional Special Days:  Visit the Special Events Page to find out about discount admission days, performances, and ongoing special events. Also, when visiting Port Discovery,  be sure to pick up a daily schedule of activities.

Here are some photos from our latest visit that highlight our favorite exhibits:
Picture
Adventure Expeditions – Explore 1920s Egypt in search of a pharaoh’s lost tomb. Kids will love looking at the mummies, figuring out the secret code, riding across a bridge and learning all about communication in ancient Egypt.
Picture
KidWorks – A three-story urban tree house puts your mind and body to the test. This is the ultimate climbing zone with different levels for different ages. KidWorks has rope bridges, slides, ladders, rock walls and more!
Picture
Tot Trails – Infants and toddlers learn through play in an exhibit that celebrates Maryland's heritage! There are many things to dig, climb, read and explore. The exhibit is a special zone for children ages 3 and under.

Royal Farms Convenience Store and Fill’er Up Station –In this interactive exhibit, kids will love working the register at the store, filling up shopping baskets with food and pretending to drive and pump gas in a real sized car.

Wonders of Water (WoW!) - helps children understand human interaction with water and the environment through “purposeful play” activities. It is very hands on with lots of water tables, wheels and things that squirt. Even though smocks are available, bring a change of clothes!
Some quick tips:
  • Read our comprehensive review of the museum for insights about permanent exhibits and our insider tips.
  • The Port Discovery Website has a great FAQ page to answer many questions.
  • Bring a change of clothes for your children. They will want to get wet, and you should let them!
  • You can bring a lunch or exit the museum and visit one of the local eating establishments within walking distance. As long as you keep your wristband on, reentry to the museum is allowed.
  • If you have toddlers and older children, bring another adult (if possible.)
  • Have fun!
