ZavaZone in Sterling: Review and Giveaway

Last summer, I interviewed the owners of ZavaZone for a magazine article. I couldn't wait to bring my kids to check this place out. Life happened. Little toddler brothers happened. We just didn't get around to visiting. I was recently thrilled when my 8 year old was invited to a birthday party at ZavaZone Sterling. This place lived up to it's great reputation and more!

ZavaZone is an indoor adventure park packed with obstacle courses, ninja challenges, trampolines, rock climbing, zip lining, parkour and much more. Every activity is included with admission (although some activities have height requirements.) My son is an average sized 8 year old and was able to do all the activities except for the high ropes course and the zip line (52 inches or taller requirement.)

Besides the variety of activities, ZavaZone is outstanding due to its cleanliness and the professionalism of the staff. I always felt like my child was extremely safe, and each station is supervised by at least one staff member. The staff members were encouraging, helpful and never pushed kids to do more than they felt comfortable doing. I think because of this fun, no pressure atmosphere, my son tried things that he normally would be hesitant about (i.e. heights.)

While I was at ZavaZone Sterling, I noticed most parents standing on the floor or sitting around the main room on the comfortable, plush sofas. There is also special parent lounge that offers complimentary wifi, coffee, and plenty of seating with a viewing window. However, ZavaZone is so much fun that you may want to score some cool parent points and participate too!

Some quick tips about visiting ZavaZone in Sterling, VA:
  • No outside food or drink is allowed, but there are healthy snacks and drinks for sale.
  • Wear tennis shoes/sneakers. If visitors are wearing sandals or crocs, they will not be allowed to participate in most of the obstacle courses or climbing activities.
  • Save time by buying tickets and signing a waiver online ahead of time. (Not necessary, but definitely recommended.)
  • Plan to stay around two hours. For most school-aged children and even teens, I think that two hours is the perfect amount of time to try all the attractions and revisit favorites.
  • Know there will be a few "extras." ZavaZone requires special socks for the trampoline, foam pit and dodgeball court in the Jump Zone. These socks are available for purchase at time of admission.
  • Non-participating parents/chaperones do not have to pay.
  • The recommended age to participate is 5 and up, but you know your child best. I would say ages 7 and up would be best. Plus, this is a great place for tweens and teens.
  • Find directions and operating hours, answers to FAQs,  party packages, special events and more on the ZavaZone Sterling website.

I would love to visit with my adventurous kid. We both love to climb things and she is a lot of fun when she gets her gross motor skills going!

My kids went today for the first time and loved it so much! I would love to win the tickets to bring them back, especially this summer when we need to burn some energy.

I have a little boy turning 7 this summer who takes ninja classes at a local gym and would love to go there for his birthday with his dad who will be returning from a 3 month work trip overseas just in time for the occasion.

All 3 of my kids have birthdays coming up in May (the 2nd, 25th & 31st)! My teens would especially love to check this place out. Even if we don't win, we'll definitely head over. Thanks!

Would love to go with the 7 and 5 year olds. My 7 year old is totally into gymnastics and would love to flip and swing. My 5 year old loves climbing. This would be a great family activity for all of us!
